Why not just guess on your mileage deductions?

Our customers say no. When they recreated how far they drove with BizMile, they found that they were leaving money on the table; they had guessed low.

How far did you REALLY drive? Find out with BizMile. (Did we mention it was easy?)

What batch address import formats does BizMile support?

Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, Apple Mail, Vcard and many other formats too.

How do I batch import a format that is not automatically supported?

Use a CSV format with ALL the following (They are case sensitive !) column headers (even if they are blank columns)
Company (this will map to the place name and it can be Fred Smith's name too),
Business Street (you can have just the address or you can have this: 101 Ness Drive, Beaumont, CA),
Business City (can be blank if city name as above),
Business State (MUST fill out state code for each such as CA or TX),
Business Postal Code (totally unnecessary but don't tell the P.O.),
Business Address (may be empty),
Business Country (also may be empty)

Are my records and data safe?

With BizMile your data is saved on state of the art servers behind encrypted SSLs in the AWS Cloud using the same SAS70 Type II audit security and ISO 27001 Level 1 service provider status certification professional standards that Amazon uses for their own business.

Your data is autosaved as you work on it and backed up daily off site for additional protections.

Bizmile also gives YOU backup control. Each time you print, you get an archival report in standard PDF format that you may save with your digital tax archive or print out to store with your paper tax files.

Which trips are deductible?

IRS mileage may be deducted for trips made for business purposes. Talk to your tax professional
about the details but generally speaking, the commute from your work to a business meeting
or a related errand is deductible. It also may be deductible from your home to work, if you
have a home office. See IRS publication 463 for more information.

http://www.irs.gov/publications/p463/index.html

Is your commute deductible?

No. Nada and pretty much never. Even if you work out of your home as a consultant or
as one of the heroic self-employed, the commute from your bedroom to your living room
is still NOT deductible.

But talk to your tax pro; they are the experts at helping you pay only the taxes that you owe. As Judge Learned Hand famously quoted:

"Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister
in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and
poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty
to pay more than the law demands."

What travel expenses are deductible?

If you deduct travel, entertainment, gift, or transportation expenses, you must be able to prove
certain elements of the expense. For more detailed information see IRS publication 463 below.

What are adequate records?

A daily record of some kind such as an account book, diary, or similar record is required
as well as its documentary evidence such as receipts, canceled checks, or bills.
Exceptions:
Documentary evidence is not needed if your expense, other than lodging,
is less than $75 or for expenses where a receipt is not readily available e.g. like a parking meter.
